What worked: I asked it to trace a single user action from the UI through to the database, and explain every step. Sharing the approach in case someone else is staring at an unfamiliar repo.

This worked for me! Asking for file paths and function names at each step made it easy to check the explanation against the actual code. I followed up with “What would break if this function returned null?” to test my understanding.
